Timers that stack

Every timing in the method becomes a timer you can start with one tap. Run three at once without losing track of which is which.

Screen stays awake

No prodding the phone with a floury finger halfway through a fold.

Ingredients on tap

The quantities for the step you are on, right where you are looking.

Ask mid-step

Stuck? The AI already knows which recipe and which step you are on.

Alerts that carry

Timers keep going and still reach you when the app is in the background.

Intelligence

A sous chef that never sulks.

There is a lot of AI in Crumbfolio and almost none of it announces itself. It reads pages, cleans up imports, answers awkward questions and writes you something new when the fridge is looking thin.

It runs on your device where it can, and on Apple Private Cloud Compute where it cannot. Your recipes never reach a third-party AI company.

Ask it anything, mid-cook.

Not a web search. Crumbfolio answers with your recipe open in front of it, so it knows what you are making, which step you are on and what you have already changed. Then it rewrites the steps that follow to match.

  • Can I use plain flour?
  • Why is my dough slack?
  • Make it dairy free
  • Finish it an hour earlier

Overnight focaccia · Step 4
I’ve only got plain flour. Am I sunk?
You’re fine. Plain flour gives a softer, less chewy crumb. Hold back about 20 ml of the water so the dough doesn’t go slack.
And if I want it tonight?
Prove it somewhere warm for 4 hours instead of overnight. I’ve adjusted step 3 for you.
Can I freeze half?
Yes, after the first prove. Wrap it tight and it keeps a month.

Write me a recipe

Half a cauliflower, some feta and forty minutes. Crumbfolio turns that into a proper recipe with timings that work.

Six people turned up

Scale any recipe and every quantity is recalculated, including the awkward ones like eggs and tin sizes.

Tidy up an import

Badly written blog method? It rewrites it into clear numbered steps without changing the cooking.

Swap what you lack

No buttermilk, no self-raising flour, no time. It suggests a substitution and what it will do to the result.

Your kitchen

Every oven lies. Yours included.

Stop a timer early and Crumbfolio asks why. Tell it the food was simply ready, and it remembers. After a few bakes it has worked out that your oven runs hot, your tin is deeper than most and you like things a shade darker than the recipe says.

No settings to configure. It just stops giving you timings that were written for somebody else’s cooker.

Conversions

Grams, cups, ounces. Sorted.

Flip a whole recipe between metric and cups, millilitres and fluid ounces, or Celsius, Fahrenheit and gas mark. Every measurement moves together, so you are never converting one line at a time on the back of the packet.

Timing is everything. So we hold it.

Timers are lifted straight out of the method and sit in the step where you need them. Start three at once. Crumbfolio labels each one so you know which is the rest, which is the prove and which is the roast.

Your bakes

A portfolio of everything you have made.

Photograph the results. Add a line about what you would do differently. Six attempts later you can see exactly how the buns got better, and what you did on the day they came out right.

It is where the name comes from, in case you were wondering.

Questions

The bits people always ask.

What is Crumbfolio?

Crumbfolio is a recipe app for iPhone. It saves recipes from any website, lets you write your own or generate new ones with AI, and then walks you through cooking them one step at a time with built-in timers, unit conversions and a shopping list. Everything you have ever cooked stays in one searchable place.

Can I save recipes from any website?

Yes. Share a link to Crumbfolio from Safari, Instagram, TikTok or any other app and it reads the page, pulls out the ingredients, method, timings and yield, and saves a clean recipe card. The adverts, autoplaying video and long personal essay do not come with it. If a page is unusual, you can fix anything by hand in a couple of taps.

What is Cook Mode?

Cook Mode is the step-by-step cooking view. Instead of scrolling a wall of text with sticky fingers, you get one instruction at a time in large type, with the ingredients for that step, any timers already set up and your screen kept awake. Swipe forward when you are ready. It is designed to be read from across the kitchen.

Can Crumbfolio generate recipes with AI?

Yes. Tell Crumbfolio what you have in the fridge, what you fancy, how long you have and who you are feeding, and it writes a full recipe with ingredients, method and timings. You can also ask it to scale a recipe for a different number of people, swap an ingredient you do not have, or tidy up a messy import.

Can I ask questions while I am cooking?

Yes. Crumbfolio has AI built into every recipe, so you can ask things like whether plain flour will work instead of strong, what to do if the dough is too wet, or how to finish the dish earlier. It answers with your actual recipe in front of it, not a generic web search, and can adjust the remaining steps for you. The processing runs on your device where it can, and otherwise on Apple Private Cloud Compute.

Does Crumbfolio convert between grams and cups?

Yes, conversions are built in. Switch a recipe between grams, cups and ounces, millilitres and fluid ounces, or Celsius, Fahrenheit and gas mark, and every measurement in the recipe updates together. You can also scale a recipe up or down and the quantities are recalculated for you.

Can I export my shopping list to Apple Reminders?

Yes. Send the ingredients from any recipe to the in-app shopping list, where duplicates across recipes are merged and items are grouped by aisle. From there you can push the whole list to Apple Reminders in one tap, so it is on your phone, your watch and anywhere else you use Reminders.

How does Crumbfolio learn my oven?

Ovens rarely run at the temperature on the dial, and no two kitchens are alike. When you stop a timer early, Crumbfolio asks why, and you can tell it the food was simply ready sooner. Over a handful of bakes it builds a picture of how your oven, tins and hob actually behave, and quietly adjusts the timings it suggests for you.

Can I keep photos of what I have cooked?

Yes. Photograph the results and attach them to the recipe with a note about what you would change next time. Each recipe builds up a record of every attempt, so you can see how a dish has improved and what you did differently on the good days. That is where the name comes from.

Which devices does Crumbfolio support?

Crumbfolio is being built for iPhone first, with iPad and Apple Watch under consideration for later releases. Join the early access list and we will tell you the moment it is available.

What will Crumbfolio cost?

Pricing is being finalised ahead of launch. Join the early access list and you will be told before anyone else, along with any launch offer we run for people who signed up early.

Is my recipe collection private?

Your recipes, photos and notes are yours. We do not sell personal data and we do not share your collection with advertisers. The AI features run on your device wherever possible, and anything that needs more capability goes to Apple Private Cloud Compute rather than a third-party AI company, which means your recipes are not stored by anyone else and are never used to train a model. Full detail is set out in the privacy policy.
